Ride Together, Go Furtherhopin is an university carpooling platform that builds community through shared rides.
Instead of paying with money, riders show appreciation by leaving stickers, which drivers can trade for coupons usable on campus. By transforming gratitude into tangible value, hopin reimagines carpooling as a playful, social, and purpose-driven experience.

Project Background

Increase in Sustainable Mobility Method

With the recent growth of the sustainable mobility market, 
the adoption of eco-friendly transportation methods has significantly increased. 
The rise of bike-sharing programs, electric scooters, and improved public transit options has played a key role in this shift. 












Exploratory Research - Interview

To learn the differences in lifestyles based on their chosen modes of transportation and  
how they think about their current transportation, 
I interviewed two groups of people in their 20s living in a big city: those who own a car and those who don’t.













Design Question

"How can we make carpooling more appealing to students?"

According to the interviews, convincing students who already drive to switch to public transportation was unrealistic. 
However, I discovered the design opportunity that they occasionally offer carpooling to people around them
This led me to set a goal of making carpooling a more familiar and approachable concept for students.












Further Research - Survey

To understand students’ perceptions and experiences with carpooling and refine the service concept,
I conducted surveys with 43 students.
